When the local arm of Rolling Stone magazine slipped through the slats of the South Africa cyberdrain, our hearts broke. It wasn’t the just the passing of a legacy brand that we had longed for all those years, it was the death of something more important: a genuine voice in the SA music landscape.

We find ourselves back at square one – with no home for the SA music perspective. Obviously there are dozens of hero bloggers out there fighting the good fight, but where is their home? Where can they go when they are battered and bruised by the record labels or the media or the sheer mediocrity of the kak that permeates our airwaves.

Where do they go when they discover genius but no one else will listen? Where do the artists go when they actually have something to say? Where can we break new music and support the legends? To News24’s flaccid entertainment pages or to MTV’s reality show network? Or do we sit and trawl YouTube until our eyes are bloodshot? Where is the music?

We have created Humdrum.TV. Our vision is to weed out the noise and make a clear sonic landscape for people we admire, people we love, people we want to hear, people YOU want to hear.

Humdrum.TV invites bloggers, artists, musicians, music lovers to be part of our family and help create a hub that has a LOUD, GENUINE, AUTHENTIC voice. Louder than the current drone.
And to fight for the music.

We even invite brands that care about SA music to become flag wavers so we can reach out and pay music lovers to contribute their thoughts, their voices, their hearts.

We are Humdrum.TV. Shut the fk up and listen.

I don’t even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post was great.
